The Highlander Music record label was set up in 1995 in Beauly by William Crawford. The main aim was to record Scottish Country Dance music CDs to provide high quality music with instant access to a particular track to make dance classes easier. The series of dancing CDs started then now has 14 volumes, each with 14 or more dance tracks featuring one of the top Scottish Dance Bands

Almost as soon as the label was started William received requests to record other music, and so in total 59 recordings have been made featuring ceilidh dance bands, fiddle, harp, bagpipes, singing and even the Dingwall Gaelic Choir.
