Description

Susan McKeown is well-known as a singer-songwriter, but on this album "Lowlands" Susan uses traditional songs against a contemporary backing. Her incredible voice rides comfortably on this heady mix of musical influences with an all-star backing group.

"One hell of a voice with a stirring, honestly emotional delivery that has been compared to Sandy Denny". Rock N Reel Magazine.

Dublin's fair, and musical, city was a great place to learn to sing, both with her mother and the wider community. She won many classical and folk-singing competitions as a child and went on to study opera and musical theatre in Dublin, and then New York. She settled in America and has managed to maintain her singing career while raising her daughter. As well as singing the traditional songs she has also become a gifted songwriter.
