Description
Scotland Now: The Music And The Song is the second Greentrax Showcase album. It brings the development of Greentrax into the nineties and again covers the full breadth of Scotland's musical heritage, with the emphasis on 'now'! The album has 18 tracks and a playing time of over 76 minutes. Recently composed songs and tunes, sitting comfortably alongside modern arrangements of traditional material performed by many of the talented Greentrax artistes: Ceolbeg, Eric Bogle, McCalmans, Adam MacNaughton, Robin Laing, Brian McNeill, etc..
Included in the selection is a re-recorded version of the prize-winning Forth Railway Bridge Centenary song by Robin Laing, Davy Steele's classic "See The People Run" track from Ceolbeg's album "Seeds To The Wind", Catherine-Ann MacPhee's stunning version of Runrig's "Chi Mi'n Geamhradh", Eric Bogle's touching "Across The Hills of Home", Nancy Nicol son's questioning "Who Pays The Piper", sensitively sung by The McCalmans, Adam McNaughtan's hilarious and much-requested "Oor Hamlet" and cracking new tunes played by their respective composers, such as Ian Hardie, Brian McNeill and Jimmy Young (of Rua), to name but a few!
