Description

A stalwart of the Scottish folk scene, Gibb Todd's songs and humour have been enjoyed  by his fans at his gigs. Here you can enjoy them in the comfort of your own home. With a stellar backing group!

Gibb Todd has been a familiar face on the traditional music scene since the folk revival in the 1960's and has toured extensively in various group combinations in Denmark, Germany, Australia, the UK and the United States with several prolonged residencies in Bermuda including the prestigious Bermuda Folk Club. In Scotland, Gibb is perhaps best known through his numerous tours with both The Dubliners and The Fureys - working also with Finbar Furey solo and with Ronnie Drew since his departure from the Dubs.

He is also a regular performer at the highly successful Celtic Connections festival which takes place in Glasgow throughout January - and is one of only a handful of select performers who have appeared at the festival every year since its inauguration in 1994.
It is surprising therefore to discover that 2000 marks the release of his first ever solo album "Connected" . As one of the scene's most popular characters, the album boasts a starry line-up of friends and musicians who were only too delighted to add their musical skills as backing to Gibb's unique vocal talent.

Produced by the Battlefield Band's John McCusker, the album features contributions from John Shehan of The Dubliners, Finbar Furey, Alasdair Fraser, Kate Rusby, Tony McManus, Joanie Madden of Cherish the Ladies, Elspeth Cowie, Fraser Spiers - and two of Scotland's finest young talents- harpist Corrina Hewat and Malcolm Stitt, who is fast becoming this country's answer to Donal Lunny.

With the release of the album, Gibb is now taking firm steps to emerge from the shadow of his more famous contemporaries and take centre-stage for himself.

Gibb Todd's warm stage presence and unfailing good humour ensures a strong rapport with any audience during a live performance, whether he is playing to a packed auditorium of 3,000 or a smaller, more select gathering in a folk club. accompanying himself on both guitar and banjo, Gibb's wealth of song extends across both the Scottish and Irish traditions, covers country and bluegrass styles and also manages to incorporate a lot of self penned material on the way.
