Description
Archipelago is a collection of songs in Gaelic, Scots and Norn from islands all across Scotland with the award winning Fiona MacKenzie. She was brought up in the Scots folk tradition and sings in both the Scots tongue and in Gaelic. She has won various Gaelic awards, including a Mod Gold Medal, and was voted BBC Radio Scotland Personality Of The Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2004.
This is a wonderfully textured album with continually changing instrumental arrangements, showcasing the varied and beautiful blend of voices
Fiona is joined by Barbara Dickson (vocals), Gillian Frame (fiddle), Yvonne Lyon (vocals), Mairi Chaimbeul (clarsach), Morven MacLeod (vocals), Alex Hodgson (vocals), Iain Mackinnon (vocals) and The Cast (vocals, viola and guitar).
