Description

"Come Scottish Country Dancing" is a CD aimed at the Scottish Country Dancer and consequently Deirdre creates a totally different sound, joined by the regular members of her band; Frank Robb on fiddle, Jim Nichol on piano and Kevin Milne on drums. Fifteen Scottish Country dances.

The Phantom Piper; Niel Gow's Farewell To Whisky; Dundee Whaler; The Brisk Young Lad; The Salmonfield Poacher; 1314; The Swilcan; Gavin's Reel; Lady Sophia Lindsay; The Snake Pass; Macdonald Of The Isles; Barley Bree; Shinftin' Bobbins; Bruce & Margaret Urquhart; West's Hornpipe.

Although Deirdre is best known as a solo performer, and all her previous seven recordings have illustrated this, she also leads her own band playing at dances, weddings and functions throughout Britain.

The programme is a carefully chosen mixture of popular, well-known jigs, reels and strathspeys such as 'The Swilcan', 1314' and 'Shiftin' Bobbins' along with lesser known but requested dances such as 'Lady Sophia Lindsay', 'The Snake Pass' and two dances devised by Ian Barbour with original tunes by Deirdre, 'The Salmonfield Poacher' and 'Bruce & Margaret Urquhart'.

Happy listening and dancing.
