Right beside The Old School Beauly are the ruins of the abbey church founded in the early 1200s by the monks of the Valliscaulian order. This order of monks came from Val-des-Choux (‘Valley of the Cabbages’) near Dijon in France. They worked hard and lived a simple modest life in chastity and obedience.
