The Vale of Atholl Pipers Association was formed in 1906, although they did not compete until joining the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in 1977, and in 1983 the band was appointed to Grade 1, where they have been both European and British Champions. The Band is renowned for its exciting and innovative concerts, something many top bands won't even tackle, and are always in demand for such events. They have appeared in concert all over the world, including the USA and Canada, in addition to various UK locations.

This is a recording of "The Vale' in concert at Motherwell Civic Centre on 9th August 1995, just prior to the World Pipe Band Championships, and what a concert this turned out to be! Under the direction of Pipe Major lan Duncan and Drum Major James King, the ensemble playing was tight and extremely exciting while the solo contributions from Mary-Ann MacKinnon and Andrew Wright were also impressive.

The Musical Director for the concert was another great talent Gordon Duncan. "Live 'N Well" is selected highlights from the memorable Motherwell Concert and was produced by Freeland Barbour.
