  • Session A9 is "The best band to come out of Scotland in 100 years" according to Dougie McLean! With the fiery fiddles of Capercaillie's Charlie McKerron, Gordon Gunn, Kevin Henderson & Adam Sutherland, plus piano, guitar & percussion. This is absolutely superb!

"From reflective to mesmerising to downright barnstorming". The Herald.

Over the last 10 years, Session A9 have earned their reputation as one of the best live bands in the country. Band members have played key roles in Capercaillie, The Peat Bog Faeries, The Boys of the Lough, Fiddler's Bid, Blazin' Fiddles, The Treacherous Orchestra and Iron Horse.

Renowned Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean testified, "The best band to have come out of Scotland in 100 years!" and The Proclaimers proclaimed Session A9 as 'Tighter than James Brown" - great praise indeed for a band formed in 2001 through informal music sessions up and down the arterial Scottish road, the A9.

"What Road?", the band's highly acclaimed first album released in 2003, was followed by appearances at Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival,Celtic Connections, The Hebridean Celtic Festival, Shetland Folk Festival and The Orkney Folk Festival, with European festival sorties including Lorient (Brittany), Ortiguera (Spain), Tonder (Denmark) and Celtica (Italy).

With 2008 came the release of the band's second album "Bottlenecks and Armbreakers". Touring successes during the year led to the band being nominated for best folk band in the 2008 Scottish Trad Music Awards.
The band kicked off 2012 by filming their headlining concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of Celtic Connections then off into the studio to begin work on forthcoming, self titled album, Session A9. Without a doubt this new work takes Session A9's music and arrangements to a new level.

With three songs featuring guitarist Marc Clement on lead vocals, phenomenal traditional tunes and stunning self penned compositions, Session A9 looks certain to once again demonstrate the virtuosity and vision of this frequently dubbed 'Scottish Supergroup'.
