Rua MacMillan - Tyro



Ruairidh MacMillan was the BBC Radio Scotland Young Trad Musician Of The Year in 2009. Tyro is an album full of fresh and intriguing arrangements of old and new tunes, plus a fair few of his own compositions, with guitar, bass, bodhran, drums, concertina & bouzouki.

Rua, is originally from the Highlands of Scotland, is a member of the Paul McKenna Band. He graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2008. Since then, he has toured extensively, throughout Europe and the US, including a memorable appearance at the Cambridge Folk Festival.

He won the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2009 and with the Paul McKenna Band, was awarded "Best Up and Coming Act" in the 2009 MG Alba Scottish Trad Awards - and will be performing with his trio which includes Adam Brown on bodhran and Tia Files (from Bodega) on guitar.
