Ali Beag MacLeod & Kevin MacLeod - Braes Of Badentarbat

Price:
£11.99

Description

Accordionist Ali 'Beag' MacLeod, of Achnahaird, has played the 2 & 3 row button accordion for some 60 years, in dances & ceilidhs all over the Highlands. Here he plays sets & solos from his West Highland repertoire, with tenor guitarist & mandolinist Kevin Macleod, of The Occasionals.

Complementing his music, All 'Beag' delivers a powerful new self-penned Gaelic poem "Fuadach Bhaile Bhlar", and there's a fine new poem, "Cainearachd", about the local salmon fishing, by Sandy 'Boots' MacLeod.

Three stirring Gaelic poems by Neil MacLeod, "The Polbain Bard" (1855-1922), are revived and spoken here in Coigach Gaelic by Roddie Macleod, underpinned with new music by Luke Plumb (Shooglenifty), John Maclean (Beta Band & The Aliens) and Freeland Barbour (Wallochmor & The Occasionals).

Rounding off the mix, Kevin and mandolinist Luke Plumb perform traditional music on mandolins & bouzouki. It's a fine blend, highlighting the musical and bardachd traditions of Coigach, both of today and from long ago.
