Description

Community archaeology on the Black Isle by Eric Grant. This local project has been working for several years on excavations in the Tarradale area near Muir of Ord in the Black Isle.

The Tarradale Through Time community archaeological project has been working on six excavations that include Mesolithic shell middens created 6000 to 8000 years ago, through to the houses of poor farm labourers that were abandoned 200 years ago. The excavated sites also included a Bronze Age agricultural and ritual landscape, an Iron Age fort located in marshland, and a large and complicated barrow cemetery dating from Pictish times.

Many of the spectacular finds are illustrated in this book, including prehistoric antler artifacts that are the first of their type found in the North of Scotland.

Paperback 88 pages.
